At 900 PM EST...Radar and surface observations showed a shield of
moderate to heavy snow and freezing rain translating eastward
across the Northeast and New England, ahead of a deepening low
pressure area analyzed over the central Alleghenies.

Storm total snowfall of 6 to 12 inches is expected from central
New York eastward along I-90 into the Boston metropolitan region.
Farther south, snow will transition to an icy mix of sleet and
freezing rain over the Mid-Atlantic, especially over Pennsylvania
and northern Maryland. Areas affected by heavy snow or ice can
expect hazardous travel conditions through the weekend.
