This major storm system is forecast to track north-northeast from
the central Plains through the Upper Midwest tonight into
Saturday. Widespread high winds will continue across much of the
Central U.S., and these high winds will combine with developing
heavy snow to create blizzard conditions across portions of the
Dakotas and Minnesota. Power outages and hazardous travel
conditions are also concerns. An ongoing regional outbreak of
severe thunderstorms continues tonight before shifting east on
Saturday, stretching from the Gulf Coast states to the Ohio
Valley. All modes of severe weather are possible, including the
potential for numerous significant tornadoes. Additionally, heavy
rain and the potential for flash flooding is forecast across
portions of the Southeast.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM CDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
