Moderate to heavy snow is forecast to become more widespread from
central and eastern Kansas into southern Missouri today. Up to a
foot of snow is expected in this region through tomorrow morning,
which will cause dangerous travel conditions and considerable
disruptions to daily life. On Wednesday, the heavy snow will track
into southeastern Virginia, southern Delmarva, and northeastern
North Carolina. Here, snowfall accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are
expected, with locally higher amounts possible. South of the snow,
precipitation will transition to an icy mix. The greatest concern
for freezing rain and significant icing will be across
southeastern North Carolina, where power outages are possible.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
