while rain and thunderstorms impact the Mid-Atlantic and
Southeast...
Blizzard Warnings are in effect for the high elevations of eastern
West Virginia and western Maryland.
Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect for a portion of New York
downwind of Lake Ontario.
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of northern
Michigan, the Central Appalachians, and New England.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of the
Midwest, Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast.
Numerous Flood and Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for the Ohio
and Tennessee Valleys and Central Appalachians.
Flood Watches are in effect for portions of the Ohio and Tennessee
Valleys and Central Appalachians.
High Wind Warnings and Watches are in effect for portions of the
Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Wind Advisories are in effect for portions of the Northeast,
Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.

At 900 AM EST...An area of low pressure was located over the Ohio
Valley with a minimum central pressure of 991 mb (29.26 in Hg).
Two trailing cold fronts extended southwest of the system to the
South and Southeast while a warm front was lifting across the
Mid-Atlantic ahead of the system. National Weather Service Doppler
Radar and surface observations showed a line of strong to severe
thunderstorms from the Mid-Atlantic through the Southeast and
moderate to heavy snow showers across portions of the Midwest,
Great Lakes, and Northeast. Icy mixed precipitation was observed
over the portions of the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern
Northeast.

The strong storm system will track across the Northeast today then
push offshore tonight into Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will
push across the East Coast today while snow is expected to
continue across the Northeast through tonight. The heaviest snow
accumulations are forecast across northern New York and New
England where additional amounts up to a foot will be possible. In
between the snow and rain, icy mixed precipitation will be
possible over southern portions of the Northeast and northern
Mid-Atlantic. In the wake of the system, strong gusty winds are
expected along the eastern Seaboard, and lake effect snows are
expected to continue downwind of the Great Lakes.
