As the Pacific storm tracks eastward into the Central U.S.,
leftover snow and rain showers across the Western U.S. will
gradually diminish Saturday into Saturday night. Meanwhile,
widespread precipitation will continue to develop across much of
the eastern half of the U.S. through the day on Saturday, with
heavy rain and thunderstorms favored across the south, heavy snow
favored across the north, and an icy mix in between. Low pressure
will rapidly deepen across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys Saturday
into Saturday night, setting the stage for a swath of very heavy
rain and the heightened potential for flooding from Arkansas to
southwest Pennsylvania. Deepening low pressure cuts just south of
the Great Lakes as it moves to the northeast on Sunday, with rain,
strong winds, and thunderstorms expected for much of the Eastern
Seaboard. North and west of the low track, heavy snow and wind
will likely lead to near blizzard conditions from the Great Lakes
to portions of the Northeast Sunday into Sunday night.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 700 AM PST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
