...Pacific storm has moved inland into the intermountain west;
scattered rain and snow showers are ongoing... 

Flood Watches are active from Arkansas to West Virginia, as well
as remaining in central California.

Winter Weather Advisories are active across the Great Lakes and
upper Midwest.

An Ice Storm Warning and Winter Storm Warnings are in effect
across the coastal Pacific Northwest.

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect
for many of the higher elevations across the Western U.S.

At 600 AM PST...The storm system has moved inland and a 1002 mb
(29.59 in Hg) area of low pressure system is analyzed over
southern Oregon. A cold front has also swept through much of
California and Nevada. National Weather Service Doppler Radar and
surface observations are showing coastal showers moving into
California, ongoing mixed precipitation in the Pacific Northwest,
and areas of snow across the Sierra Nevada and Rockies.

The Pacific storm will quickly translate eastward within the
embedded upper-level long-wave trough. Weather impacts will be in
the form of moderate and heavy snow across the Midwest and Great
Lakes by Saturday. An area of low pressure will form in the
vicinity of western Kentucky and Tennessee, with a warm front
devloping in Tennessee and Kentucky and a cold front from the Gulf
Coast to the Ohio Valley. In the warm sector, severe thunderstorms
and potentially significant flooding are likely. Areas of the
middle Mississippi, Tennessee, and Ohio Valley will be most
vulnerable to flooding. Lastly, areas of heavy snow will be seen
across upstate New York and New England for Sunday and Monday, as
well as strong winds with a deepening area of low pressure.
