The strong Pacific storm and the remnants of a potent Atmospheric
River will continue to move inland across the Intermountain West
through Friday night. The heaviest rain should mostly wrap up
across California by Friday afternoon, but several more inches of
rain is possible before then. Additionally, multiple feet of snow
is likely for the highest elevations of the Sierra, and 1-2 feet
expected for the highest mountains ranges of the Intermountain
West and the central Rockies. Once this storm system emerges over
the central/southern Plains Saturday, very heavy rainfall and
severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop from the Deep South
to the Tennessee and Ohio River valleys with widespread 3-6 inch
rainfall totals expected, mainly from eastern Arkansas to southern
Kentucky. On the cold side of the storm, heavy snow will develop
from the Upper Midwest to the Great Lakes and eventually the
Northeast Saturday into Sunday.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 700 AM PST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
