...Heavy lake effect snow continues downwind of the Great Lakes...

Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect for portions of
northeastern Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania, and western and
northern New York.

Winter Storm Watches and Warnings are in effect for portions of
Michigan, far northern Indiana, and northern New York.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of Michigan,
northern Wisconsin, and northern New York.

At 900 PM EST...A broad trough of low pressure extended across the
Great Lakes region with high pressure to the west over the
northern Plains, resulting in a tight pressure gradient across the
region. Strong west-northwesterly winds were blowing across the
lakes and producing bands of snow over the downwind areas.
National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated heavy lake effect
snow bands on the southern and eastern sides of each Great Lake,
with the heaviest bands focused over portions of Michigan and New
York.

Lake effect snow is forecast to continue in the Great Lakes
through Tuesday, then some relief is expected mid-week as high
pressure moves over the region. Travel will remain very difficult
to impossible early this week, with multiple feet of snow in the
hardest hit locations.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 AM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
