Snow Event
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
1000 AM EST Sun Dec 01 2024

...Heavy lake effect snowfall continues across portions of the
Great Lakes, with multiple feet of snow already fallen in parts of
the region....

Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect for portions of
northeastern Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania, western and northern
New York.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for northern portions of the
UP of Michigan and Winter Storm Watches and Winter Weather
Advisories are active farther south along and near Lake Michigan.

and advisories, please see www.weather.gov

At 900 AM EST...Multiple surface troughs and a weak area of low
pressure over southern Ontario, embedded in a longwave trough
pattern over the U.S. east coast, are helping to facilitate
moderate westerly winds across the Great Lakes Region, drawing
Arctic air over the warmer lake waters, and leading to intense
bands of lake effect snow. National Weather Service Doppler Radar
shows these lake effect snow bands affecting the Upper Peninsula
of Michigan, from the influence of Lake Superior and Michigan,
northern Ohio, Pennsylvania, and southern New York from the
influence of Lake Erie, and additional heavy bands of snow across
upstate New York along Lake Ontario.
