SOUTHERN ROCKIES...

Blizzard warnings are active across portions of northeastern New
Mexico.

Winter storm warnings remain in effect for southern and central

Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.

and advisories, please see www.weather.gov

At 700 PM MST...A 1011 mb surface low is situated along a cold
front in central Texas. This surface low is paired with an
anomalously strong upper low over the Southwest, and deep layered
ascent to the east of the upper low over much of northern New
Mexico and eastern Colorado. This is leading to widespread
moderate to heavy snow across much of these areas. The latest
local radar imagery depicts the heaviest snow currently over
southeastern Colorado and generally lighter snow across
north-central and northeastern New Mexico.

The winter storm will continue through Friday into Saturday. The
snowfall should pick up in intensity on Friday from northern New
Mexico to central Colorado as a surface low strengthens and moves
northward along the front in Texas. Blizzard Warnings are in
effect across the northeast portion of New Mexico, including the
Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Expect winds of 35 mph and heavy
snow to reduce visibilities. Elsewhere, travel conditions will
also be dangerous through the day Friday from northeast New Mexico
to southern Colorado. Expect snowfall totals may exceed 4 feet. As
the surface low moves northeast away from the region, the snow
should end south to north with snow tapering off in New Mexico
Friday night and Saturday in Colorado.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 800 AM MST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
