southern Mid-Atlantic, and the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.
High Wind Warnings are in effect for the central and southern
Appalachians.
Flood Watches are in effect for much of Florida, the Southeast,
the central and southern Appalachians, and portions of the Ohio
and Tennessee Valleys.
Tornado Watches are in effect for Central and North Florida,
portions of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
Flood Warnings are in effect for much of the central and southern
Appalachians and portions of the Southeast.

At 1000 PM EDT...Hurricane Helene was rapidly moving
north-northeast over the northeast Gulf of Mexico and about to
make landfall within the Big Bend of the Florida Panhandle.
Meanwhile, a nearly stationary frontal boundary continues to
linger northwest of the storm along the Appalachians and Central
Gulf Coast. National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated bands
of heavy rain ahead of the system across Florida, the Southeast,
and the central and southern Appalachians, with the heaviest rain
bands over North Florida. Gusty winds extended far from the
storm's center across much of Florida and portions of the
Southeast, with the strongest winds noted across the northern
Florida coastline.
