...Helene is approaching the Gulf Coast and will bring
catastrophic and life-threatening impacts to Florida and parts of
the Southeast...

Tornado Watches are in effect for Central and South Florida and
portions of Georgia and South Carolina.

Flood Warnings are in effect for much of the central and southern
Appalachians and portions of the Southeast.

Flood Watches are in effect for much of Florida, the Southeast,
and central and southern Appalachians.

High Wind Watches and Warnings are in effect for the central and
southern Appalachians.

Wind Advisories are in effect for portions of Alabama and the far
western Florida Panhandle.

At 1000 AM EDT...Hurricane Helene was moving northwards over the
eastern Gulf of Mexico while a slow moving front lingered along
the Appalachians and Central Gulf Coast. National Weather Service
Doppler Radar indicated heavy rain ahead of the system across
Florida, the Southeast, and the central and southern Appalachians,
with the heaviest rain bands over Central and North Florida. Gusty
winds extended far from the storm across much of Florida and
portions of the Southeast.
